Andrade is no longer with WWE after they granted his release request. He had lot to say about the company, but there are some Superstars that he actually put over in the process.

While speaking to Lucha Libre Online, in an interview translated from Spanish, Andrade explained that he was instructed to let Drew McIntyre squash him because he was the WWE Champion at the time.

Interestingly enough, Andrade was U.S. Champion at the time. The Scottish Warrior apparently told Andrade to just do his thing out there because he didn’t need him to go out of his way to make him look good.

“When the pandemic started, they put me with Drew McIntyre. Drew was great with me and behaved well with me in NXT and on the main roster. We had the matches and a producer came to me and said, ‘Make sure Drew looks like a monster, because he’s the champ.’ Drew came to me and told me to wrestle how I know to wrestle, saying that he doesn’t need me to make him look good, but to wrestle how I wrestle best.”

“A lot of people treated me well, Drew too and Randy Orton. [Randy] would ask me, ‘Why aren’t they using you?’ I didn’t know what to say and didn’t know what was going on.”

Andrade received a lot of support backstage in WWE, but not from where it mattered most. Paul Heyman was very much behind his push, but then Heyman’s removal as executive director of RAW changed that situation for El Idolo in a big way. Now he is onto the next step in his pro wrestling career. We’ll have to see where Andrade ends up next.
