Brodie Lee passed away, and the pro wrestling world is still in mourning. New details about his illness are now coming to light.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Brodie Lee was hospitalized since the end of October. He passed away due to an unspecified lung illness on Saturday.

Brodie Lee’s wife Amanda tried to keep everyone in AEW informed about Lee’s condition as it got worse. She also didn’t want the news getting out that he was sick. AEW kept that information confidential while he was suffering from his ailment.

“Jon’s wife pretty much told everyone in the company, but they didn’t want it out so it didn’t get out, what the situation was with his lugs not working. He had been hospitalized since the end of October.”

Brodie Lee was slated to take a couple of weeks off of television after losing the TNT Title in a Dog Collar match to Cody Rhodes. Then his condition started to worsen. His lungs were not working properly, and he could not finish his workouts. “About two weeks after that, it got bad.”

Toward the end of October, his lungs stopped working and he was rushed to the hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. AEW was notified how bad the situation was as well. They still kept the news from getting out until they had to break the sad news that Brodie Lee passed away.

This is a very sad time and the tributes are still flooding in. He will never be forgotten.
