Who Knew About Brodie Lee’s Condition Prior To His Passing

Brodie Lee passed away, leaving a wife and two children behind. The pro wrestling world reacted in sadness, and those who were aware of the circumstance beforehand were few.

It was previously reported that Brodie Lee’s situation was being kept as “state secret” in AEW.

Dave Meltzer brought up how Kenny Omega dropped the AEW World Title to Brodie Lee Jr after the Holiday Bash television taping. He said “I knew it was bad,” then as he continued speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio about who knew about this awful situation.

“The few people who knew, and there were only a few people who knew, were keeping it quiet. Everybody knows and I’ve been asking about it and it’s like, ‘I’ve been asking and I didn’t know what it was, but he had had this lung ailment for a long time.”

“When he was first off they were selling the injury for the Cody [Dog Collar] match, and I guess it was somewhere shortly after when he first got this, and it just got worse and worse, and you know, but people were aware. It’s not like this was something that was sudden. It’s something terrible he’s been dealing with since people starting asking the questions months ago when they noticed that he wasn’t there.”

Our thoughts are with Brodie Lee’s family at this time. He was a dedicated father, and videos of interviews like the one you can find below are now resurfacing all over the Internet Wrestling Community. Brodie Lee is gone, but he will never be forgotten. RIP.
