The Viking Raiders are on hiatus as Ivar suffered an injury which required neck surgery. This was a hard blow to take and it also resulted in a big loss for the RAW tag team division.

Erik competed on RAW this week as he lost to Riddick Moss in a RAW Underground match. That worked shoot fight was intense and a lot of fun to watch, but Erik still lost.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that Ivar will be out of action for a long time. This is not a good sign for Erik at all.

“Ivar ain’t coming back any time soon. This was a major surgery and he’s got a lot of wear and tear.”

It was then said that Erik of the Viking Raiders will have a very bad year while he waits for Ivar’s return. It was also said that “there won’t even be a Viking Raiders” by the time Ivar comes back because WWE will likely beat Erik until he’s not a believable force in the ring anymore.

WWE could always decide to book Erik like he is Raymond Rowe and not 1/2 of a gimmicky tag team. That doesn’t seem to be on Vince McMahon’s agenda.
