Cody Rhodes’ reign as AEW TNT Champion brought open challenges to the company. Since then plenty of wrestlers have thrown their name into the hat. This week Tony Khan has a big name in store for the American Nightmare.
Cody Rhodes revealed that Tony Khan, QT Marshall, and Arn Anderson decide who gets TNT Title shots in their open challenge. He can have some say, but he claims to leave it up to them.
Tony Khan tweeted out that he has secured “one of the top independent wrestlers in the world” as Cody’s opponent on Dynamite this week. This will go down live on TNT this Wednesday.
Tomorrow night on #AEWDynamite, @CodyRhodes will defend the TNT Championship against one of the top independent wrestlers in the world! It’s part of a huge card and what I promise will be a great episode of #AEW Dynamite tomorrow night on TNT at 8pm ET/7pm CT!
Last week Arn Anderson asked Cody what he thought about “that Warhorse kid.” Warhorse didn’t start #CodyFearsWarhorse on Twitter, but his fans did. They also flood Cody’s mentions at times. This is something that Rhodes brought up in the past.
We’ll have to see who shows up on AEW Dynamite this week. Tony Khan must have something notable if he’s referring to them as one of the top names on the indies.
