WWE is adding some fresh faces to their main roster, but one big name isn’t coming so soon.

There were reports that both Io Shirai and Velveteen Dream were on WWE’s radar for call-ups. After NXT TakeOver: In Your House their statuses seem even more in question.

Io Shirai won the NXT Women’s Title from Charlotte Flair. That makes Shirai a champion in NXT, and while NXT Champions can travel to other brands, a call-up seems unlikely now.

Wrestle Talk reports that WWE also shut down Velveteen Dream’s call-up. It wasn’t confirmed why they made this decision to wait on Dream yet again.

Our sources have confirmed that while [Velveteen Dream] was discussed as someone to potentially bring up, higher-ups in both WWE and down in NXT have made the call to keep the former North American Champion with the black and gold brand for the time being.

This is a very interesting situation. Matt Riddle, Dominik Dijakovic, and Chelsea Green do all seem confirmed for call-ups. Riddle is the only one of the two who has been featured on television yet.
