Welcome to Ringside News’ live results coverage of AEW Revolution, the first AEW PPV of 2020.

Tonight’s PPV will be main evented by Chris Jericho Vs. Jon Moxley for the AEW Championship. The bad blood has bubble and boiled between these two, and completely exploded in recent weeks. And tonight Moxley is almost certain to be AEW’s second-ever Champion.

The other two AEW title belts will be in competition as well, with Nyla Rose facing Kris Statlander, and Kenny Omega & “Hangman” Adam Page defending against their friends, The Young Bucks. The latter match will likely have some more story development as Page slowly turns heel via alcohol.

Other matches tonight include Jake Hager debuting against Dustin Rhodes, Cody Rhodes Vs. MJF, Sammy Guevara Vs. Darby Allin, and PAC Vs. Orange Cassidy. It’s a pretty solid card, although a few of the matches don’t have a whole lot of story or reasoning behind them.

The Buy-in

Theo only match on the Revolution Kick-Off Show will be between Dark Order and SCU. It was originally scheduled to be Best Friends, but something changed. Tazz is on commentary for this match.

Dark Order Vs. SCU

We start the match with Kazarian and Grayson, and it’s Frankie who takes control early. Kazarian tags Sky and they beat on Grayson but he then turns the tables with a dropkick to both of them. Uno and Grayson keep Kazarian isolated in their corner and make use of quick tags to beat him down.

Kazarian ducks and dodges a double team move to finally tag Scorpio Sky. Sky comes in hot with dropkicks to Uno and Grayson, as well as an atomic drop to Grayson. Sky hits Uno with a sunset flip pin attempt for a two-count, followed by a snapmare and a dropkick to the back of the head.

Now it’s Kazarian and Sky’s time to make quick tags to isolate Grayson but he takes both SCU down with a backflip kick. Uno tags back in and he kick Scorpio, then whips him into a knee from Grayson, who then belly-to-belly’s Sky into Kazarian in the buckles. Dark Order hit a combination powerbomb for a near-fall.

Dark Order look to double-team Sky but he escapes and monkey flips Kazarian into them with a double lariat. The Dark Order minions cause a distraction that allows Uno to hit Sky from behind and Grayson pins him for the win!

Winners: Dark Order

After the match, the minions storm the ring and beat on Sky but from out of nowhere, Colt Cabana comes running out and drops most of the minions on the ramp. Cabana gets into the ring and the crowd are popping for their hometown boy. Cabana goes toe-to-toe with Grayson but the minions return and beat him down.

Music hits and the Exalted One comes out the Dark Order stop their attack. He takes off the hood and it’s Christopher Daniels, but he throws the hood and dives over the ropes onto Uno. Daniels teams with Kazarian, Cabana, and Sky to beat Dark Order from the ring.

Jurassic Express is interviewed backstage and Luchasauras says not much excites him after 65 million years. However he is excited to get some PPV action, and he’s excited to see Cody get his hands on MJF. And they’ll be keeping a close eye on it to ensure it’s a fair fight.

Tony Schiavone and Jim Ross make their entrance. The two of them and Excalibur joke around and hype-up the PPV, and that’s it for the AEW Buy-In Show.

AEW Revolution opens and Jim Ross welcomes us to the show. We go to the ring, where Justin Roberts introduces Dezarae Shalice, who sings the American national anthem.

Dustin Rhodes Vs. Jake Hager

We get ring introductions and the Bucks are booed. The match gets underway and Page argues with Omega over who should start, while the fans chant for Page. Omega starts the match against Nick Jackson and they have a feeling-out process with some holds, ducks, and dodges.

Nick catches Kenny with a springboard arm drag, then a regular arm drag and then they fist bump. Matt and Page tag in and the fans pop for Hangman. They lock-up and Matt takes the wrist but Hangman flips out and into his own version. Matt counters into Last Chancery and Hangman escapes but looks mad. Matt extends a hand for a shake and the fans boo. Instead, Hangman spits in his face!

Matt Jackson takes Hangman down and unleashes some ground and pound until Kenny pulls him off, but Matt shoves him. Nick has to come in and pull Matt off. Matt goes to the apron and demands a tag. He comes in but Page hits him with a big slap in the face, so Matt responds with a spinning heel kick and tags Nick. The Bucks then hit a double-team dropkick and then dropkick Kenny from the apron.

The Bucks continue to hit double-team moves on Page, while keeping Omega on the floor. Page turns the tables on Matt and rakes his back, then drives his knee into it a few times – Matt has had back issues since the start of AEW. Page tags in with a stiff slap to Omega. Kenny hits Matt and takes a headlock before tagging Page again, who hits a stomp to Matt and knocks Nick from the apron.

Page throws Matt from the ring and whips him into the barricade. He then drops the ring bell on the ground and is about to powerbomb Matt through the table but Kenny stops him and puts Matt back in the ring. The two of them chop Matt repeatedly, but Jackson turns the tables and hits a double northern lights suplex and makes the tag to Nick.

Nick takes out both Kenny and Adam with a series of dropkicks, knees, and arm drags. He knocks Kenny from the ring and hits a running kick along the apron, then leaps over the ropes with a facebuster to Page, and flips over the ropes onto Omega. Nick gets back in the ring and gets a Scorpion Death Lock on Page, but Omega comes back in with a Kintaro Crusher to break it.

Omega dodges Matt and dives for the tag but Nick pulled Page from the apron. Matt lifts Omega for a piledriver and a near-fall.

Omega throws Matt into his corner and Page drills him with a boot, then Kenny hits a sit-out spinebuster and tags Page. Hangman comes in with right hands to both Matt and Nick, followed by a springboard lariat to Nick on the apron. Fallaway slam, kip-up, dive over the ropes onto Nick, then a lariat to send Matt out of the ring as well from Page.

Nick shrugs Hangman to the apron and elbows him, then he and Matt try to slingshot him into the ring but he slingshots them out. Hangman then climbs the ropes and hits a moonsault onto the Bucks at ringside. Back in the ring and Page hits Nick with a big lariat, then throws him to the corner and tells Matt to get in the ring.

Nick attempts a springboard arm drag but Page shoves him off but he backflips onto the ramp. Kenny gets the tag and he hits a V-Trigger to Nick, then one to Matt, followed by two snap dragon suplexes to Jackson, followed by Tiger Driver ’98 for a near-fall. Omega hits Nick with a V-Trigger against the buckles, then lifts him up in an electric chair and climbs the ropes, but Nick counters with a Poisonrana.

Page comes in with a lariat to Nick, and looks to hit Matt, but he grabs hold and hit locomotion northern lights suplexes from the ring to the ramp! The Bucks hit an IndieTaker to Hangman on the ramp and the fans boo. Now the Bucks are alone with Omega and they’re very confident. They hit superkicks to Kenny each, then a stereo one, before grabbing an arm each and drilling him with stereo knees. But Omega kicks out at 1!!!

The fans go nuts and Omega gets to his feet but Nick hits another knee for a two-count this time. Matt tags in and he stomps the shoulder of Kenny – the same one PAC targeted in the Iron Man match this past week. Matt takes the medical strap from Kenny’s shoulder, before lifting for the Meltzer Driver but Page grabs Nick from the apron and powerbombs him through the table that Sammy Guevara set-up. Page and Kenny hit the Buckshot/V-Trigger combo but Matt kicks out!

Omega hits a V-Trigger against the ropes, then grabs Matt for the One-Winged Angel but Matt escapes and hits a superkick. Page tags himself in and he lifts Matt up for a One-Winged Angel but Nick breaks it up! Hangman is furious and tosses Nick from the ring to the ramp, where he hits a Buckshot Lariat. Page then hits one to Matt and scores the pinfall!

Winners: Kenny Omega & “Hangman” Adam Page

Everyoe slowly gets to their feet in the ring and The Bucks talk to Kenny but Page isn’t interested. The Bucks invite him into the centre of the ring but he turns his back on them and leans on the ropes. Page nods at them before leaving, but then sets his belt down on the ramp, and looks like he’s going to hit Omega with a Buckshot Lariat but Omega turns around and stares at him. Page then sits on the middle rope to help Kenny out and hugs him. Page takes a beer from a fan as they head to the back.

AEW Women’s Championship

(C) Nyla Rose Vs. Kris Statlander

The second title match of the night gets underway and they lock-up with Rose shoving Statlander back. They lock-up again and this time both women struggle along the ropes, looking for an advantage. Rose then hits a diving spear through the ropes for a two-count. Rose slows things down and suplexes Statlander into the turnbuckles before kicking her from the ring.

Nyla suplexes Statlander onto the top rope and goes to the top rope but Statlander literally walks off on her hands before lying down and blowing a kiss at Rose. The Champion gets mad and runs at Statlander but misses a kick and Statlander drops her for a two-count. Rose dodges the Big Bang Theory and applies an STF.

Rose releases the STF for no reason and looks for a splash but Statlander avoids it. Rose catches Kris with a Beast Bomb for a near-fall. Nyla goes up top but Statlander punches her, climbs up, and hits a super sloppy superplex. Statlander puts Rose on the top rope and looks for a hurricanrana but Rose holds on. Nyla then tries to lift her up for a Beast Bomb but can’t get her up, so ends up jumping anyway and hitting terrible powerbomb for the win.

Winner: Nyla Rose

The women’s division is by far the worst thing about AEW and this match did nothing to change that. That was a sloppy, dangerous, cringe-worthy match.

Winner and New AEW Champion: Jon Moxley

Jon Moxley celebrates his huge title win after the match and the announcers say we have entered a new era, and we’re all invited along for the ride.

Jon grabs the microphone afterwards. He says he loves this $hit. He says it’s been one hell of a long road this past year. But this isn’t his title, just like the fans own AEW. The fans are the fuel that run the company. About a year ago they said they were bringing pro wrestling back to the fans and that’s what they’ve done. And this title belongs to the fans in Chicago, and the fans who have been with him since the beginning. He says there isn’t much left to say but it feels like beer o’clock. They start to play his music and he says “what the fu&k?” Moxley says he doesn’t plan to hide behind the belt but right now it’s time to drink some whiskey and he leaves through the crowd.

And that’s it for AEW Revolution. Let us know what you thought of the PPV and I’ll see you back here on Monday night for WWE Raw. Until then, safe travels!
