Randy Orton got a lot of people talking when he teased jump to AEW. As it turns out, he had no intention of leaving WWE in the first place.

During After The Bell, Orton spoke to Corey Graves about the possibility of RKO “dipping his toe” in waters outside of WWE. The Viper replied that he was just having a good time with those AEW teases and he didn’t want to leave WWE.

“Yeah, I was just having fun. More-so now than ever I’m aware of other guys like Will Ospreay and other guys who worked with Cody and I’m watching more wrestling. I’m not in the WWE bubble as much as I’ve been for almost the last two decades and I’m learning to appreciate other styles a little more instead of just quickly seeing something that isn’t how I would do it or isn’t how I would sell it and I’m realizing in its own way it’s good.”

“This might be upsetting for some people, but I never really saw myself leaving WWE. To me, it was about getting to the point where I’m happy and what I’m doing to my body and the amount of time that I’m gone from my family. In the end, it’s all gonna be worth it and that’s where I’m at right now so I’m definitely happy being a WWE Superstar.”

Randy Orton has a great deal with Vince McMahon’s company, but he still enjoys watching wrestling outside of the WWE bubble. Now that we know Randy Orton has no intention of leaving it makes us wonder why WWE pushed back his contract talks for months.
