The referee calling for the bell was not a DQ according to PW Insider. Instead, it was a “referee stoppage.”

It is reported that the idea was that the referee had seen too much when Seth Rollins used a sledgehammer against Wyatt who was laying under a pile of weapons.

While it was certainly plausible why someone would think the match ended with Rollins disqualified, we are told the official idea is that the bout was stopped.

The semantics behind why this match was stopped didn’t keep fans from belting out angry chants of “refund,” “bullsh*t,” and “AEW.”

Just for the record, it was a “referee stoppage” and not a “DQ.” That still won’t keep fans from being really irritated about how things went down.
