Samoa Joe lost the WWE United States Championship at Stomping Grounds, but he isn’t going without an opponent for long. Joe attacked Kofi Kingston last night to set up the next WWE Championship feud for Extreme Rules.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio how this is now WWE’s plan for Extreme Rules which seemingly shuts out Dolph Ziggler and Kevin Owens. This is interesting seeing how WWE was promoting a triple threat match for Extreme Rules, but now that is not happening.

“Owens is out of the picture, he was supposed to be in it and Ziggler — we saw no sign of Dolph Ziggler at all.”

Bryan Alvarez noted that Ziggler could always show up on SmackDown Live, but then Meltzer continued by noting that even if Kofi Kingston shows up on the blue brand tonight that it won’t matter because “Kofi’s gotta be wrestling Joe.”
