WWE’s new 24/7 Title has received some mixed reactions. R-Truth is the current two-time champion and he is making the most of it. This is in spite of how much Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks buried the new title.

We previously reported that WWE received some notes from USA Network because they were worried about the ratings for Raw’s third hour. WWE reportedly decided to go with the 24/7 Title because it was the lesser of all the evils that the network suggested, however, there might be more to that story.

Brad Shepard said on Oh, You Didn’t Know that WWE’s new 24/7 Title might not be to blame on the USA Network after all.

“Did USA want ratings up in the third house? There was talk about USA wanting ratings to improve in the third house and WWE doing some small things to improve them and also there was a story that WWE was pitched the 24/7 Title by the USA Network. That was one of multiple ideas and that was the one they went with.”

“USA did want ratings up in the third hour, I’ve confirmed that. That’s why they made some changes, but USA Network did not pitch the 24/7 Title story. The 24/7 did not come from the USA Network. So that was somebody reaching.”

WWE is using the 24/7 Title to the best of their ability. If anything, it is at least providing a fresh storyline for the company to use. Hopefully, the attention on the title will help elevate Superstars who carry it, but the jury is still out on whether WWE will keep it around for an extended stay.
