Charlotte Flair won the SmackDown Women’s Title in unexpected fashion late last month as she defeated Asuka. This was not a match with any hype — unlike their WrestleMania 34 match — but Flair took it very seriously. Now she is ready to main event WrestleMania 35 in a Winner Take All triple threat match against Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch.

She spoke to Sporting News about this match and said that she wants to make sure fans know that there is more to be written between her and Asuka. She was also asked about her famous father “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair where she said that he wanted to make sure that she knew that all of these accomplishments in WWE are a result of her own hard work.

My dad is my biggest fan, my biggest supporter, my best friend. He truly understands what it has been like in the journey, with the ups and downs and helping me every day in how to get better, what I need to do to get better, what I did to get here. He’s been so connected with what it has taken me to get here that … he just said, ‘You deserve it and you did it all on your own.’ He emphasizes that every single day that ‘You did this all on your own. This has nothing to do with me.’ And just, ‘I’m proud of you.’

Ric Flair is watching his daughter carry on his legacy in a big way. He couldn’t be prouder of her and tears are very likely to be shed by The Nature Boy in the process.
