Welcome to Ringside News’ coverage of WWE Fastlane, the final stop on the road to WrestleMania.

Tonight’s show is headlined by, presumably, Becky Lynch Vs. Charlotte Flair. If Becky wins she is inserted into the Raw Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania, but if she loses she’s “gone”. So I guess WWE will murder her. Anywho, we can all safely assume that Becky will win this match or some foul play will occur, either way we know we’re getting that Triple threat.

Elsewhere tonight, and perhaps this is the main event, The Shield reunites one last time on PPV to face Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin, and Bobby Lashley. As rushed as this reunion has been, I don’t think anyone really cares because it’s great to have Roman Reigns back and we’d all love to see The Hounds of Justice one last time…if Ambrose does indeed leave after WrestleMania.

Then there’s the match that probably should be the main event, Daniel Bryan Vs. Kevin Owens for the WWE Championship. Of course, this was originally Kofi Kingston’s spot but now Stone Cold… I mean Kevin Owens is back and we’re getting this match. It seems Kofi will still be Bryan’s WrestleMania opponent, so who knows how this one goes and what happens to Owens moving forward.

Other matches include Rey Mysterio Vs. Andrade on the Kick-Off Show, three tag team title bouts, Asuka Vs. Mandy Rose, and New Day Vs. Rusev and Nakamura, also on the Kick-Off Show. It’s worth pointing out that the Kick-Off Show is only an hour long, so those probably won’t be long matches at all.

And that’s the preview for Fastlane. Be sure to follow us on Instagram and download the Ringside News app to be part of the conversation, and enjoy the show!

Kick-Off Show

The Fastlane Kick-Off Show panel consists of Jonathon Coachman, Sam Roberts, David Otunga, and Beth Phoenix.

The panel hype the WWE Network and give a quick rundown of the Fastlane card.

We see a video of Becky Lynch’s journey to WrestleMania. Coach asks Beth what Becky has to accomplish tonight, to which Phoenix says Lynch has nothing to lose. This is her chance to cement her place in history and win gold. She’s faced tremendous all odds but she’s hungrier than anyone’s Beth ever seen. Sam Roberts says that’s nonsense, because Lynch has everything to lose. Sam points out that Becky is entitled to her WrestleMania match because she won the Royal Rumble. Otunga says Becky shouldn’t have signed the agreement on Raw this past week but he understands why she did it, and her dreams could get crushed just like her knee.

Sticking with the ladies, the panel discuss the Women’s Tag Team Champions, Sasha Banks and Bayley. Before they can really talk, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce walk in. They say they’ve been searching for Sasha and Bayley but haven’t been able to find them. Coach says would Billie and Peyton call-out Nia and Tamina if they won tonight, to which they say they don’t need to answer that. Coach says it would be in their best interest if Boss N’ Hug won tonight, to which they get mad and call him a “foolish man”.

Kayla Braxton is backstage with Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose, and she asks if Mandy is worried she has just made Asuka mad. Rose says Asuka picked a problem with them and Asuka is the longshot to win. Deville says this is the biggest night of Mandy’s career and she’s in Asuka’s head. EC3 then walks up and he introduces himself to Mandy Rose. He says he’s a hot commodity, something Mandy would understand. Deville then gets in EC3’s face and says Mandy wasn’t put on this Earth to date a human tanning bed. She tells him to take a hike and he does so.

We see a video from earlier today in which Carmella is backstage getting signatures for R-Truth to get a rematch for the United States Championship. Zelina Vega appears and begins arguing with her about who deserves the shot between Truth and Andrade. Samoa Joe walks up to them and tells them to stop arguing, because he will happily choke out anyone and everyone who wants to challenge him. He then signs Carmella’s petition and walks off. So tonight, seemingly on the main card, we’re getting Samoa Joe Vs. R-Truth Vs. Andrade Vs. Rey Mysterio for the United States Championship!

Joining the panel is none other than the birdman and former World Champion, Christian. Captain Charisma puts himself over before discussing The Miz’s homecoming in Cleveland tonight. He says this is a distraction The Miz doesn’t need, and also says The Miz’s dad is proof of why Miz is so annoying. Sam Roberts asks why the almost 40-year old Miz is seeking approval from everyone. Christian says he knows a lot about chemistry and The Uso’s have had it since being in the womb.

We get a selfie promo from Ricochet and Aleister Black, and Ricochet’s part was God awful. They read some scripted lines about flying high and fading to black.

A replay is shown of last week’s contract signing on SmackDown Live, when Vince came out and replaced Kofi Kingston with Kevin Owens in the main event. AJ Styles has joined Coach, Sam, and Christian on the panel to discuss this huge match. Coach asks how AJ feels about what happened Kofi. Styles says we all say what Kofi did to get the match, he earned it, and it’s been mistakenly taken away. Sam Roberts asks what happened to Styles, saying he’s gone from defending the title to talking about it. AJ says that you can’t always be on top and it’s not his time. Christian asks if Randy Orton is getting into AJ’s head, to which Styles says he’s been doing this long enough not to let things get to him. So he’ll deal with Orton when necessary.

Kayla Braxton is backstage with Kevin Owens, and she asks how he can stay focused. Owens starts by saying Vince is responsible for putting him in this spot, and Kofi deserves it, but he’s not going to turn this offer down. He says he’s been angry about Daniel Bryan for five months, and tonight he’s going to punch him in the face. The New Day walk up to Owens and Kofi says there are no hard feelings, that tonight is Kevin’s night. He tells him to go out there and beat Bryan, and Owens thanks him for it, saying it means a lot. They start walking off but a stage hand approaches and requests Kofi comes to their office to discuss the WWE Championship match.

Shinsuke Nakamura & Rusev Vs. The New Day

We start with Woods and Nakamura. They lock-up and Shinsuke whips Woods to the corner. Woods fires back with a headscissors takedown for a two count.

Nakamura floors Woods with a big kick before tagging Rusev. We get a commercial break and come back to see Nakamura stomping Woods in the corner. Rusev comes back in and unloads on Woods in the corner. Rusev grabs Woods with a bear hug but the fans rally and Xavier fights out. Nakamura is back in and connects with a kick to the back of the head for a near-fall.

We cut backstage to see Miz and his dad. Miz says their match with The Uso’s is opening the show tonight. Shane walks in and they small-talk. Back with the match, Rusev lifts Woods onto the top turnbuckle but he gets kicked away. Woods then connects with a missile dropkick and tags Big E.

Big E storms the ring with belly-to-belly suplexes to now-legal Nakamura. Big E connects with a running splash, then lifts Nakamura for the Big Ending but Shinsuke reverses into a guillotine. Big E powers out and tosses Nakamura off. Big E looked for a suicide dive through the ropes but Nakamura kicked him before he could fly.

Nakamura takes to the top rope and hits a flying knee for a near-fall. Woods makes a tag while Nakamura attacks Big E. Woods then comes in with a spinning DDT to Nakamura, then Rusev tags in and hits a big kick to Woods for a near-fall. Rusev hit Woods with a German suplex before tagging Nakamura. They hit a double team suplex, followed by a knee from Nakamura for another near-fall. Nakamura looks for Kinshasha but Woods avoids it and tags Big E. They hit an STO/backbreaker, but then Lana crotches Woods on the ropes. The distraction allows Nakamura to connect with a kick, then Rusev hits a Machka Kick but Woods breaks the pin.

Woods returns and knocks them both from the ring, followed by a tope…but he’s caught in mid-air by Nakamura and Rusev, who then slam him down. Rusev gets Woods back inside for a near-fall. Rusev locks-in The Accolade, meanwhile Big E throws Nakamura into the timekeepers area. Rusev lets go due to the action on the outside, allowing Big E and Woods to catch him with the Up Up Down Down for the win!

Winners: The New Day

Back with the panel for one last rundown of the Fastlane card, and they discuss The Shield reunion. Christian says Reigns’ return from cancer is one of the best stories in WWE and sports in general. Sam Roberts calls the reunion “stupid” but Coach says it’s a feel-good story. They quickly make some predictions; Christian thinks Charlotte will beat Becky Lynch; Otunga thinks Ricochet & Aleister Black will win the Raw Tag Team Championship; Roberts says The Uso’s will retain their Tag Titles; Christian reckons Asuka will dismantle Mandy Rose; Roberts says Joe will have a hard time retaining in the Fatal 4-Way for the US Championship; and Christian thinks Tamina and Nia Jax will win the Women’s Tag Team Championships.

That’s it for the Kick-Off Show. Head to the next page for the official start of Fastlane!

Corbin says they’ve been running Raw while The Shield have been squabbling in drama. McIntyre says The Shield had to be glued back together, kicking and screaming, but tonight won’t be a nice farewell show, it will be a massacre.

Elias is in the ring and he kicks right into a song about going to WrestleMania, while insulting Cleveland and The Miz along the way. And that’s it, he doesn’t get interrupted, the segment ends.

After the match Mandy won’t accept Sonya’s apology for leaving the apron up and costing her the match. She keeps apologising as they leave up the ramp.

We go backstage and see Big E and Xavier Woods, looking for Kofi. They find him and Kofi says he has not been able to see Vince. They storm into his office and Vince asks where he’s been. Woods and Big E make their plea for Kofi to be a part of the WWE Championship match tonight. Vince agrees and says Kofi will be in a Triple Threat but that Woods and Big E are banned from ringside. But Kofi better go get ready, because that match is next!

Caruso asks how they feel about being the underdogs tonight, but Bayley says they shouldn’t be considered underdogs anymore. Sasha says they will never let themselves lose the Tag Team Championships, and Bayley says they will defend it across all three brands. Because there’s no stronger connection than the Boss ‘N Hug.

Elias is back in the ring again and he sings a song this time about New Day being beat like the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Beth Pheonix is on commentary for this one. Bayley locks up with Tamina, and hits a few forearms and rushes her into the corner before she tags Banks.

The Hugger eventually breaks free and makes the hot tag to Banks. Sasha hits a Meteora to Tamina but she kicks out. Nia almost fell over when she lifts up Banks for a Samoan drop.

Bayley and Banks take down Jax with a nice double team combo. Banks dives off the ropes onto them both and they were supposed to catch her but they both fell. It’s time for the SmackDown WWE Championship match, and it seems it will still be a Triple Threat Match! However, the third member won’t be Kofi Kingston…

The fans are booing Ali because they wanted Kofi – that’s literally twice WWE has put a babyface in Kofi’s spot, somehow thinking fans would cheer for them. They chant “We Want Kofi!”

WWE Championship

Triple Threat Match

(C) Daniel Bryan W/Erick Rowan Vs. Kevin Owens Vs. Mustafa Ali

The bell rings and Bryan call both challengers idiots, saying they don’t deserve to be in this match and he is the planet’s Champion. Owens and Ali then beat Bryan down and toss him from the ring.

The two challengers then lock-up and trade holds and reversals until Owens floors Ali with a back elbow. Bryan returns with chops to Owens while the fans are still chanting for Kofi. Owens knocks Bryan from the ring and goes back to chopping Ali in the corner. Mustafa uses some impressive athletics to dodge Owens, then connects with a dropkick.

Bryan comes back and takes the fight to Ali, who quickly throws him back out. Owens whips Ali into the ropes, who dodges a clothesline and connects with a suicide dive to Bryan. KO gets onto the apron and hits a cannonball to Ali, then one to Bryan. The fans are completely apathetic to this match.

Back in the ring, Bryan drops Owens with a kitchen sink. Ali climbs onto the top rope and Bryan hits him with a big running dropkick and Ali took a crazy bump, almost flying into the crowd! Still the fans don’t care, they’re beginning to ruin a really good match. Bryan kicks Owens in the corners, before grounding him with some joint manipulation.

Bryan unloads the Yes Kicks to Owens but Ali breaks up the pin attempt. Bryan punishes him with a back suplex. Bryan then connects with Yes Kicks to Ali, but the cruiserweight ducks the final one and hits a rolling X-Factor. Ali got turned inside out by a clothesline from Bryan, while the announcers talk about how the fans would normally love Ali, but tonight is different. Owens hits cannonballs to both men in the corners, the superkicks Bryan. Ali jumps on Owens’ back, so Owens runs and hits a senton to Bryan with Ali still attached!

All men are down but KO is back on his feet first. He unloads a chop to the chest of Bryan and sets him on the top rope. Ali pulls Owens down and hits Bryan with a Spanish fly from the top rope! Bryan rolls from the ring, so Ali scales the ropes beside Owens. He looks for the 054 but Owens rolls out of the way. Owens hits Ali with The Stunner but Bryan breaks it up. While Owens is pumped up, Bryan comes off the apron with a flying knee!

Bryan then misses a running knee and Ali runs back up the ropes for a tornado DDT to Bryan on the floor! Ali runs and Owens hits him with a pop-up powerbomb onto the ring apron. Owens sends Ali back into the ring but Rowan grabbed his leg and threw him into the timekeepers area. Meanwhile Bryan pins Ali…but Mustafa kicks out!

Bryan slowly gets to his feet, seemingly talking to Erick Rowan. Bryan lifts Ali and slaps him. Ali slaps him back and Bryan stumbles. Ali jumps for a springboard and Bryan caught him with the running knee in mid-air and that’s that!

Winner: Daniel Bryan

Wow! That was a great match and the fans barely cared. Yes you want Kofi but we all know it’s coming, so appreciate a great match while it’s happening.

After the match Rowan grabbed Ali and hit him with a chokeslam before he and Bryan posed and left.

Becky Lynch Vs. Charlotte Flair

If Becky Wins She Gets Inserted In The WrestleMania Main Event

Lynch is still on a crutch, even as the bell rings, but then she tosses it out. Charlotte shoves her to see if she falls over but then Becky unloads some punches. They lock-up and Charlotte forces her to the corner and holds her leg but lets it go. Again Becky fires some hands but Charlotte brushes them off and kicks her knee.

Charlotte goes to work on the leg, kicking it and slapping Lynch in the face. Lynch takes her down with a Thesz Press but Charlotte gets out and takes Becky down and applies a Boston crab. Lynch fights out for a minute, but then Flair reapplies it. Charlotte continues to dominate, focusing on the leg and wrapping it around the ropes and ring apron. She chops Lynch in the corner and looks to drop a knee on Lynch’s leg but misses. Lynch fires a kick that misses but Charlotte sold it anyway. Lynch cradles Flair for a two count.

Charlotte tosses Becky from the ring with an exploder suplex. Flair follows her out and whips Becky into the barricade. Charlotte climbs to the top of the ropes but Becky shoves her off and into the barricade below. Lynch looks for the count-out but Charlotte gets back inside at 8. Lynch takes her down immediately with the Dis-Arm-Her but The Queen rolls through and applies the Figure Four. Suddenly, Ronda Rousey comes running own and punches Becky in the gut!

Because of that interference and the result, Lynch is officially a part of the WrestleMania main event! Charlotte is furious but Ronda just leaves the ring and up the ramp she goes. Rousey then stops and points at the WrestleMania sign.

Elias is back in the ring once more, and this time he sings about not liking Becky Lynch and, of course, hating Ohio. This time he finishes by saying no one interrupted him because everyone agrees that Cleveland is terrible. Also that he loves nobody in Ohio. Then Lacey Evans comes out and walks down to the ring, before turning and leaving. Elias stands and watches her and, legit from out of nowhere, comes Randy Orton with an RKO! As Orton is drinking in his work, AJ Styles appears on the apron and hits him with a Phenomenal Forearm! Styles poses on the ropes.

The Shield Vs. Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin, & Bobby Lashley

All six men stare at one another in the ring for a moment before a brawl breaks out and The Shield clear the ring.

The heels get back onto the apron and the match can officially begin with Lashley and Rollins. Bobby forces Seth to the corner with shoulders but Rollins fires back with a slingblade. Corbin tags in and attacks Rollins in the corner but Seth hits his head off of the turnbuckle and tags Ambrose. He and Dean hit fast double team moves to Corbin.

McIntyre comes in and beats down Ambrose, who then tags Seth, who tags Roman. Dean hits a poetry in motion clothesline to McIntyre, then Reigns hits a flying clothesline. Again the heels roll from the ring to regroup. This is the first time Roman has been in a match in four months. McIntyre tosses Reigns to the corner and stomps him, then whips him to the opposite corner. Reigns kicks him, then connects with an uppercut before tagging Seth and they hit a wishbone. Rollins chops Drew in the corner but then looks to jump over him and Drew kicks him in the gut. Lashley tags in and slams Rollins into the barricade several times.

Back inside the ring, Corbin is legal and he punches Seth, then applies a submission to try and keep him grounded. Seth catches Corbin with an enziguiri and looks to make a tag but McIntyre comes in and prevents it. He knocks Roman from the apron but then Seth ducks him and tags Ambrose. Dean comes in hot and clotheslines everybody. He knocks Drew from the ring before climbing onto the top of the ring post and jumping onto McIntyre on the floor!

Ambrose gets back into the ring and Lashley hits him with a spear and Drew makes the pin but Reigns breaks it up. At ringside, Lashley and Corbin toss Rollins into the crowd. McIntyre connects with a Claymore Kick but Ambrose rolled right out of the ring. The heels want a count-out win but Ambrose gets back inside at 9. Drew unloads ground and pound on Dean before tagging Corbin. They continue to beat Ambrose to a pulp with quick tags, while Reigns and Rollins slowly get back on the apron.

McIntyre looks for a suplex but Ambrose reverses for one of his own. Lashley comes in and Ambrose catches him with a neckbreaker. McIntyre comes back in and stops Dean from tagging, but Dean comes back with a clothesline. Corbin and Reigns are tagged in and The Big Dog takes him down with clotheslines. Reigns knocks Lashley and McIntyre from the apron, before flooring Corbin with a big boot. Corbin hangs on the bottom rope, so Reigns slides out and hits the Drive-By Kick. McIntyre breaks the pin attempt but Rollins comes off the apron with a knee. Lashley comes in and lifts Seth for a Dominator but Dean pulls Rollins own and they hit a double team kick.

Rollins and Ambrose hit stereo suicide dives to McIntyre and Lashley, then Reigns clotheslines Corbin over as well. The Big Dog hits the ropes, looking for a dive over the ropes, but Corbin intercepts him with a Deep Six for a two count. Rollins is thrown over the barricade and beaten down by Drew and Bobby, but then Ambrose runs across the announce tables and dives onto them all. Meanwhile in the ring, Reigns and Corbin throw hands until Corbin reverses a Samoan drop with a roll-up for a near-fall. Corbin connects with a chokeslam for a near-fall.

Then we see the other four guys brawling through the crowd, near the Kick-Off Show set. Back inside the ring, Reigns hits Corbin with a sit-out powerbomb for a near-fall. Lashley and McIntyre set Ambrose onto the Kick-Off Show table but Dean then dives onto them. They catch him but Seth comes diving out of the stands above and drops all three men! Reigns readies himself, then connects with a Superman punch for a near-fall.

Rollins and Ambrose come back to the ring but before they can get inside, Lashley and Drew return and throw them into the barricade. Lashley gets into the ring but eats a Superman punch from Reigns, as does McIntyre, but Corbin connects with End of Days…and it would have been three but Seth and Dean broke the pin! Corbin unloads on Seth and Dean, while the fans chant “Shield!” Corbin tosses Roman out of the ring and coordinates Lashley and McIntyre to put Reigns through one of the announce tables.

Before they can lift Roman however, Seth and Dean come running and attack them. Rollins ends-up on the announce table and gives Lashley The Stomp on the table. Reigns catches Corbin with a Spear at ringside, then the hounds maul McIntyre. They lift McIntyre up onto Roman’s shoulders and he gets Shield Bombed through the table! The fans want more.

The hounds surround the ring, with only Corbin left inside. They climb onto the apron while the fans chant “This Is Awesome!” Rollins connects with a superkick, Roman with a Superman punch, and Ambrose with Dirty Deeds. The crowd go wild as The Shield pump them up for one final Shield Bomb to Corbin.

Winners: The Shield

As soon as the match is over Rollins, Ambrose, and Reigns hug. It is, as Michael Cole put it, the end of an era. The three of them pose in the ring one last time to end the show.

That’s it for WWE Fastlane 2019. Tomorrow night’s Raw is to be a busy one with Batista and Triple H going face-to-face, an Intercontinental Championship match, and all the fallout from tonight. Be sure to come back tomorrow for all your news and results, and until then, safe travels.
