WWE has a lot of critics and tag team wrestling can sometimes be a big target for people to complain about. The fact is tag team titles don’t seem to matter much in WWE or at least, they are nowhere close to where they should be in regards to importance.

It seems like WWE could be making a change to this running theme of not giving tag team wrestling the attention it deserves. Last night on Raw, we saw the in-ring debut of Heavy Machinery as well as Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins’ reunion.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE is telling their tag teams that the division will get more of a focus. This is great news for them depending on what WWE’s plan actually is.

“Maybe they’re getting all these tag teams ready when they start promoting the tag team division.”

“That’s the idea is that they’re going to start promoting the tag team division. That’s what they’re telling all the tag teams. Yeah, they’re doing it, they’re going to start building up the division. That’s why we got Dozovic and those guys. We got Hawkins and Ryder back together. Everyone was waiting for Hawkins and Ryder’s return.”

WWE’s lack of attention for tag teams was one of the contributing factors of why The Young Bucks turned down WWE contracts. Opening their own professional wrestling company also helped them make this decision.

The re-introduction of WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles could be a great step in the right direction for WWE. However, they can’t stop at just introducing new titles and giving a couple extra minutes to tag matches on television.

Edge commented in the past about how Vince McMahon has never been fan of tag team wrestling. Only time will tell what WWE is planning, but this isn’t the first time fans have been given hope that tag team wrestling will experience a resurgence.
