Backstage Note on Finn Balor’s Loss to Kane on Monday’s RAW

As previously reported, Dave Meltzer mentioned in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Finn Balor’s rumored match against Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Title may not take place at next year’s Royal Rumble event.

Meltzer said that Balor’s loss to Kane this past week on RAW could be an indication that the match is off because the company was supposed to be building Balor up for the Championship title match against Brock.

When asked about the situation, Dave Meltzer responded, “I’ve asked around and like, I mean, people who always defend Vince [McMahon] have been, like, there’s no explanation. There’s no defense. He just whiffed.“
