Zilla Fatu didn’t wait until Heatwave to get his hands dirty. He stormed the Heatwave summit during WWE NXT on August 25, 2026, wiped out his three championship opponents and ended the show holding the NXT Championship.
The summit initially focused on NXT Women’s Champion Kendal Grey and Kelani Jordan. Grey fired back at Jordan’s recent criticism and made it clear she was ready to defend her title, while Jordan promised to dethrone Grey and send her back to the bench.
Wren Sinclair, ZARIA and Kali Armstrong then joined the confrontation ahead of their Winner Takes All match at Heatwave. Armstrong entered the summit after defeating ZARIA earlier in the night to officially earn her place in the three-way title fight.
Grayson Waller eventually interrupted the women and took control of the spotlight, claiming Heatwave would be about him conquering his demons and becoming NXT Champion. Tony D’Angelo came out next and dismissed Waller as another disappointment waiting to happen. Cruz Montana then appeared in the crowd and announced that he came to throw hands. That was all it took for the summit to explode into a massive brawl.
Once the women finished fighting, Zilla Fatu rushed the scene and launched himself from the ring post onto D’Angelo, Waller and Montana. Fatu then grabbed the NXT Championship, climbed into the ring and posed with the title as the show went off the air.
The closing shot gave Fatu all the momentum before his first official NXT match. He will challenge D’Angelo alongside Waller and Montana in a Fatal Four-Way match for the NXT Championship at Heatwave on August 30.
