Royce Keys may have lost the GUNTHER match, but WWE might not be done with him.
According to False Finish, Royce Keys is currently involved in The Bloodline story and is expected to continue being part of it in some capacity. That makes his situation a lot more interesting.
Keys was once planned to face GUNTHER at SummerSlam before WWE shifted toward Nick Aldis. On paper, that looked like a major spot disappearing. Now, it sounds like WWE may still have plans for him, just in a very different lane.
Solo Sikoa had already tried to recruit Keys into the MFTs several times over the past few months. Keys also lost to Talla Tonga back in June, so he has already been tied to that side of the family drama. Now the MFTs are broken up, and that creates an opening.
Keys could be used as someone Solo tries to pull back in, someone the remaining Bloodline members target, or even someone caught between both sides of the fallout. Either way, WWE has already planted enough seeds to keep him connected.
So while Nick Aldis may be stepping into the GUNTHER match, Royce Keys may not be getting pushed aside completely. He just might be moving from a SummerSlam title-level opportunity into one of WWE’s biggest ongoing stories.
