WWE isn’t just heading to Mexico City for Raw and SmackDown—it may be laying the groundwork for a massive Premium Live Event.
During a recent Q&A, JoeyVotes of WrestleVotes revealed that WWE’s September trip to Mexico is viewed internally as a “soft dry run” for an even bigger show, with the company reportedly targeting Mexico City for a PLE in either 2027 or 2028.
“The tour coming up in September—Raw and SmackDown in Mexico City—is a soft dry run for a full-blown PLE in Mexico City coming up in 2027 or 2028. They’ve got a target there. They have ideas.”
The company has already announced that SmackDown and Raw will both take place in Mexico City as part of its September tour, but according to WrestleVotes, those shows could also be a chance for WWE to test the waters before bringing one of its biggest events to the country. It wouldn’t be a surprising move.
Over the last few years, WWE has aggressively expanded its international schedule, taking major events all over the world. Mexico has long been one of wrestling’s hottest markets, and after WWE’s growing relationship with AAA, a Premium Live Event there feels more realistic than ever.
Nothing has been officially announced beyond this year’s television tapings, but if this report is right, WWE’s biggest show in Mexico may only be a matter of time.
