WWE is cutting talent from the NXT roster, and Jasper Troy is the first name confirmed to be out.
PWInsider.com has confirmed that WWE NXT releases are currently underway. Troy, a former WWE Speed Champion who signed with the company in 2022, is the first wrestler confirmed as part of the cuts so far. The good news for WWE’s bigger names is that this round appears to be staying in developmental. It’s being said that that no main roster talent cuts are expected as part of what is currently happening.
Troy may have actually tipped everyone off before confirmation arrived. On September 4, he posted an extremely cryptic message on Twitter and immediately pinned it to the top of his profile, writing “30 Days” That message came just three days after Troy raised eyebrows with another post following the September 1 episode of NXT. Troy had once again been left off television and wrote about everything he gives to professional wrestling.
“I can hold my head high knowing I give my all—not for a pat on the back or because I expect something in return. This business means something to me.”
Troy then promised he still had plenty left to prove and made it clear he wasn’t going away quietly.
“I have so much to prove, and I ain’t in no rush to prove it. I’ll get mine. I’ll stand on my word and become everything I know I am. I won’t be denied!”
Those comments look a lot different now that his WWE departure has been confirmed. Troy had already vanished from NXT television months before the cuts began. His last televised NXT match came on June 9, when he lost to Dion Lennox, leaving him off NXT television for nearly three months before his release.
Now there’s no mystery about why Troy was counting down 30 days. The bigger story is that WWE isn’t done with just one name. Releases are currently taking place across NXT, meaning Troy may only be the beginning as the company starts trimming its developmental roster. At least for now, the main roster appears safe from this round of cuts.
