The October 23 episode of Friday Night SmackDown will build towards the Crown Jewel Premium Live Event. That’s exactly why WWE has put together a solid lineup to keep fans entertained from start to finish.
WWE Women’s Championship: Chelsea Green (c) vs. Roxanne Perez
Chelsea Green already has Liv Morgan waiting for her at Crown Jewel. First, she has to make sure she actually gets there as champion. Green puts the WWE Women’s Championship on the line against Roxanne Perez tonight, and Perez already has proof that she can beat her.
Two weeks ago on Raw, Perez defeated Green in a non-title match after interference from Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. That victory was enough to put Perez in position for the championship match she felt she deserved. Now the stakes are much bigger.
Green is supposed to face Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan in the Champion vs. Champion match at Crown Jewel. If Perez takes the WWE Women’s Championship tonight, that entire situation changes just two weeks before the show. The Judgment Day could become important too. Perez won’t necessarily be walking into this alone, and Green has a lot more than one challenger to worry about.
Street Fight: Giulia vs. Blake Monroe
A normal match clearly wasn’t enough for Giulia and Blake Monroe. These two have been going after each other for months, with their issues repeatedly getting physical before they could properly settle anything in the ring.
They finally managed to have their match on October 2, when Monroe made her SmackDown in-ring debut and defeated Giulia. That still didn’t end anything. Now there are no normal match rules keeping them under control. Giulia and Monroe meet again tonight in a Street Fight, which feels a lot more appropriate considering how many times their rivalry has already turned into a fight.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Alexa Bliss & Tatum Paxley (c) vs. Michin & B-Fab
Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley haven’t had much time to enjoy becoming champions. The new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions make their first defense tonight against Michin and B-Fab.
Bliss and Paxley are still a relatively new team, so holding the championships is one thing. Figuring out how to keep them when other teams start coming after them is another. Michin and B-Fab now get the first opportunity to find out whether the new champions are built for an actual title reign or whether those championships are about to change hands again.
The MFTs vs. Bakusai
The MFTs and Bakusai are doing this again. WWE Tag Team Champions The MFTs will face Shinsuke Nakamura and Kyoki in another tag team match, although the championships won’t be on the line this time.
The MFTs will once again have Haku backing them, while Nakamura and Kyoki get another opportunity to prove they can hang with the champions. Beating The MFTs in a non-title match wouldn’t immediately put championship gold around Bakusai’s waists, but it would give them a pretty strong argument for another match where the titles actually are at stake.
