Big Cass came back to WWE alone, but Enzo Amore may not have been completely out of the picture. WWE had interest in bringing both men back from the start, even though Cass was the only one who showed up and wrecked Je’Von Evans on RAW.
Cass returned with none of the comedy that defined his old run with Enzo. He stormed the ring, attacked Evans and made it clear that WWE is positioning him as a serious heel who can steamroll anyone standing in his way. WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select said Cass’ new presentation immediately made him look like a threat.
“I thought the presentation was great. I loved the way they debuted him in very matter-of-fact fashion—to come in and put the boots, literally and figuratively, to Je’Von Evans. I liked the seriousness that we got from him. I liked the intensity that we had there. He looked great, in incredible shape.”
Cass kept that same energy during a backstage interview with Jackie Redmond, where he said he had hit rock bottom and wasted the last eight years of his life. The comments could easily be taken as a shot at AEW, even though part of that eight-year stretch happened before he joined the company.
“I liked the backstage segment he had there with Jackie Redmond. Very much kind of burying AEW in the process, which I thought was an interesting way to go about it. I don’t think they needed to do that.”
Cass also made his intentions clear by saying the attack on Evans was not personal. He is not back to make friends or revive old catchphrases. He is back to hurt people.
“It’s nothing personal. I’m here to stack bodies. I think we very much need someone on the heel side of things who has that larger-than-life presence—someone who can be a threat to anybody in a mid-card division, maybe elevating himself to the lower part of the main-event scene.”
The big question is what happened with Enzo. WWE did not tease him during Cass’ return, and none of their old “S-A-W-F-T” presentation carried over to RAW. However, WrestleVotes made it clear that the original interest involved both men.
“Maybe from the time that vignette was planned to what the debut was, things in negotiations did not continue through with Enzo, or maybe they’re waiting until a certain point in the storyline to have him return. I don’t know what the plan is at this point in time.”
“All we can tell you is what we heard directly from sources—that there was interest from the get-go in both of them. Here we have Big Cass back in WWE on RAW, and what that means for Enzo is yet to be determined.”
Joey Votes floated the possibility that WWE could be testing Cass as a solo monster before deciding whether Enzo is needed. That was his theory and not a confirmed creative plan.
“Maybe Enzo is a lifeline. Maybe they’re going to try with Big Cass and give him a month to see if he can get over as this dominant heel. If it’s not working, they call up Enzo.”
Enzo could also return even if Cass succeeds alone. The two could reunite as heels or end up against each other, giving WWE a version of the act that fans have never seen before.
“Even if it is working, maybe you still bring in Enzo at some point and have either a feud or even have Enzo be a heel. I think that would be a really cool side of things—to have them as heels together for the first time.”
For now, WWE is giving Big Cass the chance to prove he can stand on his own as a destructive heel. Enzo Amore’s future remains wide open, but the original interest in bringing back both men means that door may not be completely shut.
