We get an interview with AJ Styles. Kayla Braxton asks Styles how he will stay focused tonight, after everything Joe has said. Styles says he can’t wait for the match to start, he’s laser focused. He says he’s walking in as WWE Champion, ripping Joe’s heart out, and walking out as Champion.
WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship Match
(C) Charlotte Flair Vs. Becky Lynch
The match gets underway and Becky takes Charlotte down. They engage in gator rolls before getting back to their feet and now it’s Charlotte’s turn to take Becky down. They separate and stare at each other. They exchange more amateur wrestling holds until Charlotte shoots Becky into the ropes but eats a shoulder tackle. Bit of a cringe-worthy botch before both women looks for her finisher to no avail.
Charlotte goes to work on the leg of Lynch until the Lass-kicker forces her to the corner. Charlotte turns the tables and lands some shoulder tackles in the corner until Lynch moves and she hits the turnbuckles hard. Becky then knocks Charlotte from the ring with a springboard kick, and follows-up with a diving forearm from the apron. Becky gets Charlotte back inside for a two-count. Beck starts working on Charlotte’s arm but Charlotte hits a nice roll-up for a near-fall. Becky grounds Charlotte with an armlock as the fans chant her name. Charlotte fights out but Becky quickly takes her down and hits a running leg-drop, followed by an elbow drop. A second leg drop misses and Flair follows-up with a knee drop to the back of the head.
Becky is thrown over the top rope onto the apron, where she wrings Charlotte’s arm around the rope. She tries to get back in but Charlotte knocks her to the floor. Charlotte lands a baseball slide dropkick. Both women get onto the apron and trade hands until Becky slams Charlotte down, shoulder first on the apron. Becky gets her back inside for a two-count. Becky looks for the Dis-Arm-Her but Charlotte reverses with a roll-up. Flair then catches Becky with a backdrop. Both women are down.
They both get to their feet and Charlotte chops Becky against the ropes. Becky responds with a spin kick. Becky looks for a springboard kick in the corner but Charlotte pushes her away, and follows-up with a big boot and they both fall down. Charlotte looks for the moonsault from the top rope but Becky moves out of the way. Becky looks to apply an armbar but Charlotte stands up and slams Becky down with a sit-out powerbomb for a near-fall. This match is really heating up!
They both get to their knees, then their feet, exchanging punches to cheers and boos. Becky gets the better of the exchange, then hits a hammerlock reverse DDT for a near-fall. Becky goes to the top rope and dives for a missile dropkick but nobody’s home, Charlotte grabs her by the legs and applies a Boston crab. Becky crawls o the ropes and flips Charlotte over into the bottom turnbuckle. Becky then leaves the ring and wraps Charlotte’s arm around the ring post. She gets back inside but Charlotte rolls her up. Becky kicks out and immediately applies the Dis-Arm-Her but Charlotte crawls out of the ring to force the break. They both get to their feet again and Lynch looks for a spear but Becky reverses into a pin attempt and gets the three count!
Winner and New SmackDown Women’s Champion: Becky Lynch
Lynch celebrates after the match. Charlotte stands up and they stare at each other. Charlotte offers her hand to Becky, to lift it in a show of respect but instead Becky holds her title high and talks trash to the Queen. The fans chant “Becky!”. A really good match.
