Becky Lynch and Stephanie Vaquer have been going at each other on social media, and now Adam Pearce has stepped in with an announcement that puts a championship opportunity on the line. The WWE RAW General Manager has confirmed a number one contender’s match for October 26, giving two of the company’s biggest female stars a chance to move closer to championship gold.
On October 24, Pearce took to Instagram to announce that Lynch will face Vaquer on Monday Night RAW, with the winner earning a future shot at the Women’s Championship. The decision comes just hours after Lynch mocked Vaquer’s recent injury, predicting that she’d be back on the sidelines within three weeks of returning.
The trouble started when WWE shared footage of Vaquer announcing she’d been medically cleared. After spending months recovering from an ankle injury suffered at Money in the Bank, Vaquer tossed her crutches aside and sent a direct message to Lynch, telling her she’d see her on Monday.
Becky didn’t exactly roll out the welcome mat. Instead, she fired back on Twitter by predicting Vaquer would be injured again within three weeks. The jab made it clear that Lynch wasn’t interested in celebrating Vaquer’s recovery, and now she’ll have to back up those words inside the ring.
Vaquer hasn’t competed since Money in the Bank, where she lost the Women’s World Championship to Liv Morgan and suffered a legitimate ankle injury. She initially believed she’d only need a few days of rest, but her absence stretched much longer than expected. Now that she’s finally cleared, WWE isn’t wasting any time putting her into a major match.
The stakes couldn’t be much higher for either woman. Vaquer has an opportunity to get right back into the championship picture after losing her title, while Lynch can secure another title opportunity by defeating someone she just publicly mocked for getting injured.
What started as a heated exchange online has now turned into one of the biggest matches announced for Monday’s show. Pearce has made sure that neither woman can simply walk away from the situation, and the winner will have a championship opportunity waiting on the other side. With Vaquer making her return to competition and Lynch already taking shots at her health, Monday’s RAW has all the ingredients for an ugly showdown. The trash talk is over, the match is official, and one of them is leaving with a shot at the Women’s Championship.
