Lyra Valkyria losing to Sol Ruca on the August 17 edition of WWE RAW didn’t sit well with everyone. The second Ruca got the three-count, fans were already questioning why WWE is having Lyra lose while trying to establish her new heel direction.
The match saw Valkyria repeatedly target Ruca’s neck, including a scissors kick and a knee directly to the back of it. Ruca survived the punishment, fought her way back and eventually caught Lyra with a superkick and DDT before putting her away with the Sol Snatcher.
And just like that, the conversation shifted from Sol’s victory to what WWE is doing with Lyra. Fans took to Twitter and immediately started calling out the decision, with one viewer wondering how losing is supposed to help WWE get Valkyria’s heel character over.
“How y’all made Lyra lose this is supposed to be her heel run”
Another fan made it clear they had nothing against Ruca getting the victory. They just couldn’t understand why it needed to come at Lyra’s expense right now.
“Love sol but You can’t have Lyra lose there in her first raw match if your really trying to get this character over….”
That wasn’t the only frustration. Other fans went straight at WWE for what they believe has been a lack of momentum behind Valkyria since changing her character.
“If you are to push Lyra at least push her better. We all know she needed this win very much!”
“This show has been filled with terrible booking decisions. Did you seriously have no plans for heel Lyra?”
The match itself caught some heat too. One fan wasn’t impressed with several exchanges between Ruca and Valkyria late in the match and felt the closing stretch did Lyra no favors.
“Lift Sol and she jumps out is all okay but after that dude wtf is going on Lyra just gave her face to get kick from her and after kick SOL failed her flip so Lyra came to help her then her stupid finisher Looks so bad And feels so bad for Lyra give her proper chance”
Sol Ruca got a big win on RAW, but WWE also left some fans with a completely different conversation afterward. Lyra has a new attitude and a new direction, and now those fans want to see WWE actually do something with it instead of watching her momentum disappear before it gets going.
