Max Caster is taking a break from wrestling, and he’s making it clear that getting himself right is his biggest priority after his controversial TNA debut ended with the company cutting ties with him.

Caster got himself into serious trouble after referencing the bombing in Riyadh during his entrance rap at TNA Bound For Glory. The line sparked immediate backlash, and TNA cut ties with him the very next day.

During an appearance at ACW, Caster addressed what happened and apologized to the fans who were excited to see him in TNA. He admitted his time with the company lasted just one day and thanked everyone who supported him after the controversy.

“In the span of one day, I started a contract and ended a contract with TNA Wrestling. I put out a statement, I addressed it and apologized to a lot of people, but the one group I didn’t get the apologize to is all the fans. I really appreciate the support, everybody who has reached out after this happened. A lot of people were excited to watch TNA for the first time or come back to the product, and now a lot of people are disappointed that I’m not on the show. Thank you guys here at ACW for welcoming me. For that, I say, I love you and thank you.”

Caster then revealed that he has no idea what’s next for his wrestling career. Instead of looking for another opportunity right away, he’s planning to take an extended break from the ring and go to therapy.

“I don’t know what my next move is. I don’t know where I’ll be, but I will be stepping away from the ring for an extended period of time. I’m gonna go home, I’m gonna go to therapy, I’m gonna get it right so that the next time I’m in the ring it feels like I’m at home.”

The announcement comes after new details emerged about how TNA handled the situation. TNA President Carlos Silva personally made the decision to end Caster’s run after the backlash.

Caster was believed to be working on a per-appearance deal rather than a long-term contract. TNA also gave him complete freedom over his entrance rap and had no idea he was going to reference Riyadh before he went out there. After the controversy, the company removed his content and issued a public apology. The report also noted that some people within AEW felt TNA should have known what it was getting into, considering Caster’s history of pushing the limits with his entrance raps.

For now, Caster isn’t giving fans a timeline for his return. His TNA run was over almost as soon as it started, and now he’s putting wrestling on hold while he focuses on himself. Whether he returns to AEW, TNA or somewhere else remains to be seen.
