Will Ospreay is still working his way back after neck surgery — and now he’s revealing who made that recovery possible.
After recently discussing the physical and mental adjustment of returning to the ring following his neck surgery, Ospreay shared another major detail about the situation while speaking to Forbes.
According to Ospreay, Khan personally covered the cost of the surgery — and the bill itself was staggering. Ospreay specifically thanked the AEW President for stepping in financially during one of the most serious medical situations of his career.
““I’m just grateful and so blessed. And I must give the biggest shoutout to Tony [Khan] for paying for that surgery.”
The former AEW star didn’t hide how shocked he was once he saw the actual cost involved.
“Because the moment I saw that f***** bill — bro, it was more expensive than my f****** house. It was crazy.”
The comments come shortly after Ospreay admitted that recovery still hasn’t felt completely normal following the surgery. While speaking to The Sportster, he explained that he’s still adjusting physically every time he wrestles.
“It’s super scary because it still doesn’t feel like my head.”
Even with that discomfort, Ospreay said he wanted to prove he could still perform at the elite level fans expect from him after returning at AEW Dynasty against Jon Moxley.
“I wanted to come back and still be able to reassure people that pay-per-view Billy Goat is still one of the best wrestlers in the world.”
Since returning, Ospreay has continued wrestling regularly, as he pushes forward despite still adapting to life after surgery. Bottom line — Will Ospreay is still dealing with the reality of neck surgery recovery, but he made one thing very clear: Tony Khan played a huge role in helping him get through it by covering a medical bill Ospreay says was more expensive than his own house.
Do you think Tony Khan paying for Will Ospreay’s surgery says a lot about how AEW handles talent relationships, or should that kind of support simply be expected in modern wrestling? Let us know your thoughts.
