Will Ospreay got married, showed up to AEW Dynamite instead of going on honeymoon, and somehow still found time to get into it with a fan online.

During the June 17 episode of Dynamite, Tony Schiavone congratulated Ospreay on tying the knot and pointed out that he came straight to the show. Ospreay said he should have been on honeymoon, but his wife told him to stay focused because Hawaii could wait. Then Ospreay told the crowd how he made it up to her before heading to Houston.

“I got a good wife, man. So here’s what I did to treat her—I took her upstairs, I smashed the life out of her, bruv. I said, ‘Babe, clean yourself up, I gotta go to Houston.’”

The crowd laughed, but Twitter did what Twitter does. One fan called the line gross, saying it sounded dehumanizing and misogynistic, even if Will Ospreay’s wife was personally fine with it.

“much like when MJF does it I’m sure Alex is absolutely fine with what he said

however, also like when MJF does it, what a gross way to talk about the love of your life, straight up dehumanising and misogynistic language, yuck”

Ospreay saw the tweet but didn’t write a paragraph. He didn’t apologize. He didn’t explain the joke. He just fired back as he told the fan to just touch grass, saying, “Touch grass Katherine.” So, Ospreay clearly isn’t losing sleep over the criticism. He made a crude newlywed joke on live TV, one fan hated it, and his response was basically to tell them to go outside.

Bottom line, Ospreay’s Dynamite promo got people talking for more than just the tournament final. Whether fans saw it as harmless banter or crossing a line, Ospreay made it clear he’s not here for the online lecture.
