Will Ospreay is already excited about the possibility of Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods potentially landing in AEW following their shocking WWE departure.
After reports revealed that Kingston and Woods left WWE after rejecting TKO-driven contract restructuring, speculation immediately exploded about AEW possibly bringing in The New Day. Internal excitement about the duo joining the company has already been reported, with dream matches against The Young Bucks becoming one of the biggest talking points.
Now Ospreay has weighed in himself. Speaking to Forbes, Ospreay was directly asked how he would feel about Kingston and Woods potentially coming into AEW. Ospreay didn’t hesitate — making it clear he’s fully on board with the idea if it becomes a reality.
He started by showing respect for both men, especially Kingston’s historic WWE title run and what it meant beyond just wrestling.
“I mean, I would love it. I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things about them. I loved watching Kofi Kingston win the WWE Championship and seeing what that meant to so many people. I think that’s powerful stuff.”
Ospreay also revealed he’s had some level of interaction with Woods already — even if it wasn’t about wrestling at first. From there, he made his stance clear — if the opportunity opens up, he’s ready to step in the ring with them.
“I’ve only really spoken with Xavier Woods on Twitter, and I think it’s mostly been about costumes more than anything. He’s messaged me quite a lot about how he loves my jackets. Everybody’s said they’re wonderful human beings, so if the avenues are there, of course I’d love to f***** wrestle them.”
Bottom line — Will Ospreay sounds fully on board with the idea of The New Day potentially joining AEW. Between his praise for Kofi Kingston’s legacy, his interactions with Xavier Woods, and his excitement about eventually sharing the ring with them, Ospreay clearly sees the duo as a major addition if they ultimately land in AEW.
