WWE is always locking down names for people that they want to use later on. This caused them to register another name recently, seemingly confirming a signing. It also took place after they had already debuted on television.

We previously reported that WWE didn’t want their announce team saying Dante Rios‘ name during a recent episode of NXT. He lost a match against Tyler Rust, and the announce team did refer to him as “Rios” a couple of times.

The company has now filed a trademark for Dante Rios’ name. This took place on January 28th, one day after the episode of NXT aired with Rios. So, they didn’t have the name 100% locked down just yet.

Also known on the indies as Daniel Garcia, Dante Rios has worked for a number of indie companies. He will make a fine addition to the NXT roster. Now that his name is officially locked down that means he could get a bigger spotlight.
