Je’Von Evans crashing through the roof of an ambulance ended up being one of the biggest talking points coming out of Money in the Bank. Now, there’s a backstage explanation for why WWE put the 22-year-old in such a jaw-dropping moment.

During a recent Q&A session, JoeyVotes and TC of WrestleVotes were asked about the now-viral stunt. According to Joey, the goal was pretty simple: create a moment that would spread everywhere online and give fans something they’d be talking about long after the show ended.

“The reason for it was to have a big spot where people would react and lose their minds and share the video a million times on social media. It was just to be viral.”

TC explained there was another reason behind the decision. Since Evans wasn’t going to win the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match, WWE wanted a way to write him out of the match while also making sure he still came out looking like one of the night’s biggest stars.

“And take him out of the match since he could not win it. And kinda protect him — like, okay, he’s gonna lose this match. He’s 22 years old, he has a huge future ahead of him, and now you add a big spot to his résumé that he can use going forward as one of his video package moments and iconic scenes.

It was like, hey, get him out of the match with an ambulance, and it will be like, wow, what a great spot for Je’Von. And you kinda take the focus off that he lost another match in a big spot yet again.”

Whether you loved the spot or thought it was over the top, WWE got exactly what it wanted. Fans weren’t talking about Je’Von Evans taking another loss—they were talking about the guy who got speared into an ambulance, came back for more, and crashed through its roof.

Do you think WWE made the right call with Je’Von Evans’ ambulance spot, or would you have rather seen him stay in the match until the finish? Let us know in the comments.
