The Undertaker has quietly become one of the key people helping shape AAA behind the scenes in 2026. Last weekend, though, someone else had to call the shots.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, The Undertaker was unable to attend AAA’s Verano De Escándalo event on July 25 because of a family commitment, leaving Jeremy Borash to take over the show in his absence.
That meant one of WWE’s most trusted backstage figures was suddenly running the promotion’s latest major event while The Undertaker dealt with matters away from wrestling. Meltzer reported that Borash stepped in to oversee the event after Undertaker couldn’t make the trip.
The backstage switch is notable because The Undertaker has become heavily involved in AAA’s creative direction since WWE deepened its relationship with the promotion. Working alongside Jeremy Borash, he’s been serving as an executive producer behind the scenes while helping shape the company’s television and premium live events.
That work hasn’t gone unnoticed either. AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio and Chad Gable have both publicly praised The Undertaker’s influence behind the scenes, crediting him for helping guide the creative process during AAA’s new era under WWE’s umbrella.
While Undertaker’s absence only lasted for one event, the latest report shows WWE already has experienced leadership in place to keep things moving whenever he’s unavailable.
