The Young Bucks aren’t the only members of The Elite with a big decision coming up. According to Karl Anderson, Kenny Omega’s AEW contract is on a very similar timeline—and it has him thinking wrestling is getting closer to the end of an era.
Speaking on Talk N Shop, Anderson expanded on his earlier comments about Matt and Nick Jackson by revealing that Omega’s deal is also set to expire next year. Having shared so much history with all three men dating back to Bullet Club, Anderson admitted it’s weird thinking about a wrestling world without them.
“Kenny’s contract is done next year.”
That got Anderson talking about the bigger picture. He believes fans don’t always realize how much certain wrestlers have changed the industry until they’re no longer around every week.
“I think when guys like the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega, who changed the landscape of wrestling, when they hang it up, dude, you’re not going to ever see these guys ever again. And it’s going to go, ‘Oh… oh s***.’ Like, that’s some historical s*** that they did.”
Those comments came shortly after Anderson shared another interesting update about The Young Bucks, saying their current AEW contracts are also due to expire next year. Anderson added that he still talks to Matt and Nick all the time.
“The Young Bucks’ contract is done next year. I talk to them every single day. “You know what? How much longer will the Bucks go, dude? I don’t know.”
The timing is also interesting because Dave Meltzer sparked retirement speculation last month after saying he’d heard discussion that the Bucks’ current AEW contracts could be their last. Meltzer later clarified he wasn’t reporting that Matt or Nick had recently told him they planned to retire, but was instead referring to Matt’s previous public comments about eventually stepping away and the fact that both brothers are financially secure.
Nothing Anderson said means Kenny Omega or The Young Bucks are getting ready to call it a career next year. What it does mean is that all three have contracts coming up around the same time, which could make 2027 one of the biggest years yet for The Elite. Whether they all stay, sign new deals or start thinking about what’s next is something wrestling fans will be watching very closely.
