Vince Russo may have left JCW, but his fingerprints will still be on the promotion for a little while longer. After fans repeatedly asked how much of the company’s upcoming television was still his work, Russo decided to clear the air himself.
After announcing his departure and later explaining in detail why he walked away from the promotion, Russo noticed one question kept popping up online. Fans wanted to know whether the latest episode of JCW Lunacy was still his work and how much of the upcoming television had already been written before he left.
On October 2, Russo decided to answer that question himself. Taking to Twitter, Russo revealed that he had already completed scripts well beyond his departure. According to him, he wrote the October 1 edition of JCW Lunacy as well as the next three weeks of television before stepping away from the company.
“I have a lot of people asking me, so I just want to address. I wrote last night’s ‘JCW Lunacy’ show and the next three weeks of shows.”
However, Russo also made it clear that writing the shows doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll air exactly as he scripted them. Now that he’s no longer with JCW, the promotion has complete control over what stays, what gets changed and what gets cut altogether.
“What they decide to use and not use is up to them.”
Because of that, Russo said there’s no point asking him which segments or storylines are his. As far as he’s concerned, once he walked away, those decisions stopped being his responsibility.
“Please don’t ask me what’s mine and what isn’t because I’m not watching the shows. Thanks!!!”
The clarification comes shortly after Russo opened up about his exit, explaining that there wasn’t a dramatic backstage falling out with Violent J. Instead, he said months of creative frustration and working in an environment that no longer suited him eventually convinced him it was time to leave.
That means fans may still see ideas Russo originally wrote over the next few weeks, but whether those scripts remain intact is entirely in JCW’s hands. Russo, meanwhile, says he won’t even be watching to find out.
