Vanity Project is back on top after Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes defeated Myles Borne and Tavion Heights at NXT Heatwave. With Myka Lockwood at ringside, Baylor and Smokes took advantage of a late opening to win back the NXT Tag Team Championship.

Baylor and Smokes had been looking to reclaim the titles from Borne and Heights, and Robert Stone gave them the chance. Earlier in the night, Borne also put his NXT North American Championship on the line against Jackson Drake, leaving him with a demanding double-duty schedule.

Borne started the title match against Baylor, throwing uppercuts before the former champions began isolating him from Heights. Smokes worked over Borne’s back at ringside, and Vanity Project kept him trapped in their corner with frequent tags and double-team attacks.

Borne reached for Heights, but Baylor knocked Heights off the apron before the champions could make the tag. The pressure continued until Borne finally fought out of a double-team attempt and reached Heights.

Heights came in firing, tossing Baylor and Smokes around with suplexes and slams. He nearly forced Baylor to tap out with an ankle lock, but Smokes pulled his partner to the ropes. Lockwood then climbed onto the apron, providing enough of a distraction for Smokes to chop-block Heights.

Borne later got the hot tag and ran through both challengers, but Vanity Project kept breaking up pin attempts. Borne and Heights landed matching belly-to-belly suplexes, followed by a powerbomb-and-dropkick combination on Baylor, but they still could not close the deal.

The finish came after Borne was knocked from the apron and Heights was left alone against both challengers. Heights fought off a double suplex and dropped Baylor and Smokes, but Borne returned with a blind tag just as the action broke down again.

Heights took Smokes over the ropes, leaving Borne and Baylor in the ring. Baylor drove Borne into Heights on the apron, knocking Heights down, and Vanity Project quickly hit their double-team finish on Borne for the three-count.

Vanity Project has regained the NXT Tag Team Championship, ending Borne and Heights’ reign and putting Baylor and Smokes back in control of the division.
