Val Venis saw a Pride parade and somehow turned it into another shot at AEW fans. Just days after questioning whether AEW’s audience is mostly LGBTQ, the former WWE star apparently saw the footage and immediately thought of Tony Khan’s fan base.
On August 25, Val Venis took to Twitter and reacted to a video showing several men dancing during a Pride parade in revealing outfits, including thongs, garter belts, masks, tails and other accessories. Venis only needed one sentence.
“Did AEW fans decide to have a parade???”
That joke makes a lot more sense when you look at what Venis was posting just three days earlier. On August 22, he launched a poll asking his followers whether AEW has a majority LGBTQ fan base but added more alphabets.
“POLL: Does AEW have a majority LGBTQ+++XYZ fan base?”
At the time it was captured, 139 people had voted, with “YES” sitting at 66.9% and “NO” at 33.1%. The poll still had several days left, and obviously a poll posted to Venis’ own followers isn’t exactly a scientific breakdown of who watches AEW.
Still, Venis clearly hasn’t moved on from the subject. He has spent plenty of time going after LGBTQ and transgender issues on social media, including previously attacking Tony Khan over his support for transgender people and targeting wrestlers over gender identity and pronouns.
Now AEW fans have become part of the routine too. So, at this rate, Venis doesn’t need much of a setup to get AEW involved. A Pride parade popped up on his timeline, and apparently that was enough.
