Sami Zayn finally reached the top of WWE at Night of Champions, but Val Venis clearly was not impressed.

After Sami shocked everyone at WWE Night of Champions by beating Cody Rhodes and GUNTHER in a Triple Threat Match to become the new champ, Venis jumped on Twitter and torched the whole thing. He didn’t just take aim at Sami either. He dragged Cody into it, too, saying both men would have been beneath stars like Hulk Hogan, The Rock, Steve Austin, The Undertaker, and Triple H.

“📢🤼‍♂️ Both of these losers would carry my bags, and polish my boots. The IT FACTOR guys like Hogan, The Rock, Austin, Undertaker and Triple H raised the bar of eligiblity to unheard of heights. Its super cool that boss man Triple H lowered the bar to “dumpster on fire” levels so the less fortunate could get a shot while the corporation looks to discover their next IT FACTOR guy like Hogan, Rock, or Austin.”

And Venis was not done. He followed up by tagging Cody directly and clowning him for losing the title to Sami Zayn: “@CodyRhodes you absolute loser! You lost to a communist who could not lace my boots on his best day.”

That is a pretty nasty reaction to what was supposed to be Sami’s career-defining night. Zayn finally won the big one after more than two decades in wrestling and more than 10 years chasing WWE’s top prize. The finish came after total chaos in Riyadh, with broken announce tables, GUNTHER trying to choke Cody out, and Sami sneaking in at the perfect time to roll Cody up for the win.

Sami was emotional on the Night of Champions post-show afterwards, saying plenty of people doubted he would ever become WWE Champion. Then he fired back at anyone who thought he didn’t deserve it.

“You know what? You’re DAMN RIGHT I deserve it! Twenty-plus years in the game at the highest level — never got the recognition. Ten-plus years chasing this title — never got the recognition. I don’t care what happens to me tomorrow, next week, next month, next year. Forever, I will be Sami Zayn — W-W-E Champion!”

So now WWE has a brand-new Undisputed Champion, Cody Rhodes is suddenly without the title, and Val Venis is already using the result to rip the modern WWE main event scene. Sami may be celebrating the biggest win of his life, but Venis clearly thinks WWE just lowered the bar.
