The men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament semifinals are officially locked in after Brody King and Mark Davis scored major victories on the May 27 combo edition of AEW Dynamite and Collision.
The prize is a big one. Whoever wins the tournament will receive an AEW World Championship match at All In in August, and the remaining field now features Brody King, Swerve Strickland, Mark Davis and Will Ospreay.
Brody King punched his ticket first by defeating Claudio Castagnoli in their quarterfinal match. The two had split their previous singles meetings in AEW, both coming during Continental Classic tournaments, making Wednesday night the deciding match in their unofficial series.
King got the job done clean against the Death Riders member, moving one step closer to the biggest opportunity of his AEW career. His reward is a semifinal clash with Swerve Strickland. The match will also give King another shot at Swerve following their encounter at AEW Revolution in March, where Strickland came away with the victory. AEW has not announced when the semifinal match will take place.
Later in the night, AEW National Champion Mark Davis continued his run by defeating Jack Perry in the other quarterfinal bout. Davis secured the pinfall after drilling Perry with a piledriver, ending the latest chapter of a rivalry that has continued to follow both men in recent weeks.
That win sets up a far more personal semifinal match for Davis. Davis will face former United Empire teammate and longtime friend Will Ospreay on the June 3 episode of AEW Dynamite. The two are now set for their third singles meeting in AEW, with Ospreay winning their February 2025 match before Davis scored an upset victory over him this past February during Ospreay’s recovery storyline.
With Davis and Ospreay now heading into another emotionally loaded match, and King standing across the bracket from Swerve, the Owen Hart Cup has quickly become one of the most important paths to AEW’s biggest summer event.
