Triple H says the competition inside WWE is heating up before SummerSlam Sunday even begins.
Ahead of the second night at U.S. Bank Stadium, Triple H uploaded footage of himself riding through the venue on an arena cart while speaking with members of the crew. He said the talent working Night Two watched everything that happened on Saturday and is now trying to figure out how to make Sunday even bigger.
“The fun thing now is watching everybody as you move through this night. Everybody watched Night One, so now this group of talent is trying to think, ‘All right, how do we make Night Two bigger than Night One?’”
Triple H said that pressure creates a competitive atmosphere backstage because everyone on the card wants to be the person who steals the show.
“This is where it gets fun and competitive for everybody, and everybody wants to steal the show.”
Saturday gave the Sunday roster a clear standard to chase after a night that included CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes, Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi inside Hell in a Cell, Liv Morgan vs. IYO SKY and GUNTHER vs. Nick Aldis.
“They’ve got last night to go off as a barometer, so it makes for an exciting night.”
SummerSlam Sunday will be headlined by Roman Reigns defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Seth Rollins. The card also includes the Interim WWE Women’s Championship Ladder Match, Penta vs. Chad Gable, Trick Williams vs. Baron Corbin, Sami Zayn vs. Finn Bálor and Danhausen vs. Dominik Mysterio.
Triple H’s message was clear before the bell even rang: Night One set the bar, and the Sunday roster is coming in determined to clear it.
