Stephen A. Smith keeps talking himself closer to WWE, and now Triple H is basically saying he’s ready to make the Paul Heyman war happen.

While speaking on The Stephen A. Smith Show, Stephen A. brought up Heyman again and admitted that if he ever stepped into WWE, Heyman would be the guy he’d want to model himself after. Not just because Heyman can talk, but because Stephen A. sees him as the best in that lane.

“Paul Heyman, if I was going to be in this business in WWE, I would actually be a competitor because that is who I would want to model myself after. He’s got my spot. He’s the best at it!”

Triple H didn’t exactly shut that down. In fact, he leaned all the way in and said Paul Heyman is the guy in WWE when it comes to talking trash — but he also put Stephen A. right up there with him.

“He is the man in our world when it comes to running his mouth. I do say you are up there. I’m waiting. You tell me when I pull that trigger: Paul Heyman vs. Stephen A. Smith. That is the money, man. I’m just waiting for you to tell me when. We’re going to do it.”

That sounds a lot less like random talk and a lot more like WWE knows there’s something there. Stephen A. has already been taking shots at Heyman on ESPN, and reports have revealed WWE is interested in doing more with him because of his crossover appeal. Still, Stephen A. actually pumped the brakes a bit. He admitted Heyman might be the one person he’s not fully ready for yet.

“I might have to. I don’t know if I’m qualified. That’s the one person I don’t know if I’m ready for yet. I mean, I think I can talk smack with the best of them, but that man is next level. He comes on TV and people try to come at him, and I say, ‘Whoa, be careful. That’s Paul Heyman. I don’t know if you’re ready for him. You’ve got to be careful.’”

Then Triple H dropped another tease, saying Heyman talks about Stephen A. Smith the same way. He even said he would pay to see the verbal battle go down.

“Let me tell you, he says the same thing as you. So believe me, I’m going to pay to see that war. I want to see it.”

So, that is a pretty big green light from the man running WWE creative. Stephen A. may not be training for a match, but WWE clearly sees value in putting him across from the Wiseman on the microphone.

At this point, Stephen A. Smith vs. Paul Heyman feels less like fantasy booking and more like something WWE could actually pull the trigger on. And if Triple H is already calling it money, fans may want to start paying attention.
