WWE’s return to Hawaii is apparently a very popular assignment backstage. With the company heading back to Honolulu for live events on October 16 and 17, Triple H says WWE Superstars are already trying to make sure their names end up on the card.
WWE hasn’t held an event in Hawaii since 2019, making the upcoming shows at Blaisdell Arena the company’s first trip back in seven years. During an interview with KHON2 News, Triple H was asked how excited he was about WWE finally returning to the islands. He made it clear that excitement isn’t limited to the fans. Triple H said the roster isn’t exactly hiding how badly they want to make the trip.
“It’s going to be amazing. We haven’t been there since 2019. I can tell you that every superstar in the WWE has been calling, asking us to be on this show.”
“They’re chomping at the bit to get there.”
The WWE Chief Content Officer then revealed the company has bigger plans for Hawaii beyond just the two October events. Triple H said WWE doesn’t view this as a quick visit before disappearing for another several years. Triple H said WWE wants to rebuild its presence in Hawaii, where the company has deep ties through generations of Pacific Island wrestlers.
“This is exciting for us. And this isn’t a one-time deal. We’re not just coming in there now. We’re going to be coming there on a regular basis.”
“We’re going to make sure that we have our feet back on the ground in Hawaii where they always should have been.”
Earlier in the interview, Triple H pointed to names including The Rock, Peter Maivia, Roman Reigns, The Usos and Nia Jax while explaining why Hawaii and the Pacific Islands remain important territory for WWE. The company is also holding a talent tryout during the trip as it searches for its next generation of performers.
For now, the bigger problem might be figuring out who actually gets to go. If Triple H really has WWE Superstars lining up to get booked in Hawaii, those October cards could end up loaded with talent fighting for a spot on the plane.
