Triple H is not running away from WWE criticism. He says he loves it just as much as the praise.

While appearing on Busted Open Radio, Triple H addressed the extreme reactions WWE receives whenever the company makes a major creative decision. Some viewers celebrate every move, while others immediately swear they are finished watching the product. Triple H said both reactions come from the same place—people care enough about WWE to become emotionally invested in what happens.

“Yeah, look, whether we’re doing something right or we’re doing something wrong, I love that passion. I love it. It’s amazing. They’re not always going to agree with everything that happens.”

He compared wrestling viewers to football supporters who sit at home questioning decisions made by coaches with decades of experience. The average person may not know everything happening behind the scenes, but that does not stop them from screaming at the television.

“It’s no different than the NFL, where guys who have never played a down of football in their life, or haven’t played since peewee or whatever, are screaming and ranting, ‘This coach sucks. He knows nothing about football. He doesn’t understand the game. Why would he run that play?’”

Triple H also pointed to basketball supporters who declare they are finished with their favorite team after a bad performance, only to return the second that team starts winning again.

“Just like the NFL or NBA or Major League Baseball, people sit on the couch and yell, ‘I’m done. I’m never watching the Knicks again. They suck.’ Then they win, and now they’re the greatest thing ever.”

For Triple H, the most important thing is that people are reacting. He would rather have viewers furious over a WWE decision than sitting silently without caring what happens next.

“It’s amazing. It’s passion at the end of the day. It’s why we do what we do.”

“I love the hate. I love the love. It’s all passion for what we do.”

WWE will never make every viewer happy, and Triple H does not appear interested in trying. As long as people keep arguing, cheering, complaining and coming back to watch, he sees that emotional reaction as proof that the product is doing its job.
