Trick Williams knows CM Punk has spent decades building a reputation as one of wrestling’s greatest talkers. He just doesn’t think that means Punk can out-talk him.
While speaking to SHAK Wrestling, Williams was asked what it’s like getting on the microphone with Punk. Trick gave the Undisputed WWE Champion his respect, acknowledging both his career and the legendary moments he’s produced with a microphone in his hand. Then he reminded everyone who they were talking to.
“Yeah, CM Punk is one of the greatest of all time and he’s proven that. You know, he’s had his legendary moments from talking to trash talking. But you got to understand, Shaq, I come from a long, long line of trash talking who’s been passed down from my cells, you know, since a little kid. It’s in my DNA to talk trash like only Trick Williams can.”
Punk may have experience on his side, but Williams doesn’t seem particularly impressed by that advantage either. Trick pointed toward Punk’s nearly three decades in wrestling before claiming his own ability to talk trash goes back considerably further than anything he’s learned inside a wrestling ring.
“So CM Punk thinks that he’s ready because he has 30 years of wrestling and WWE experience, he has to understand my trash talk goes back for decades and decades, you know, all the way back to times that none of us was born. So, you know, I’m that level of trash talker.”
That’s quite a claim against someone who made his name delivering promos long before Williams ever stepped inside a WWE ring. But Trick isn’t trying to beat Punk on experience. As far as he’s concerned, talking trash isn’t something he learned after becoming a wrestler. It’s been in his DNA his entire life.
The Second City Saint has nearly 30 years behind a microphone. Trick Williams apparently has generations. Now somebody just needs to hand both of them one and let them settle it.
