Tony Khan spotted a pretty wild claim about AEW losing the latest “Wednesday Night War,” and he wasn’t about to let that one slide. With the real ratings already out, the AEW boss needed just one GIF to call complete BS on the whole thing.

The November 4 numbers showed AEW Dynamite comfortably ahead of NXT. Dynamite pulled 792,000 viewers on TBS with a 0.24 rating in the 18–49 demo, while NXT drew 552,000 viewers on The CW with a 0.13 rating.

But before those real numbers had been released, one Twitter account had already declared the night a “massive victory for WWE.” The account claimed NXT had drawn 921,000 viewers with a 0.30 demo, while Dynamite supposedly finished with just 609,000 viewers and a 0.26 demo.

Then the actual ratings came out, and that post aged pretty badly. Instead of NXT winning by more than 300,000 viewers, Dynamite actually finished 240,000 viewers ahead. That’s when Khan came across the earlier post. With the actual numbers now available, he didn’t bother breaking down everything the account had gotten wrong or writing some giant response. He simply posted a GIF that read: “You’re a pretty good liar.”

Khan eventually came across the post, and he didn’t bother writing some giant correction or breaking down the actual numbers. He just dropped a GIF with four words.

“You’re a pretty good liar.”

That was pretty much all Khan needed to say. The actual numbers had Dynamite beating NXT by 240,000 viewers, so the claim he was responding to had the winner completely backwards. It was also a big jump for Dynamite from the previous week.

The October 28 episode drew 620,000 viewers with a 0.21 demo, meaning AEW added 172,000 viewers for the November 4 show. NXT improved too, moving from 520,000 viewers and a 0.09 demo to 552,000 viewers and a 0.13. Still, that was nowhere close to the 921,000 viewers being thrown around in the post Khan mocked.

Khan could have pulled out the spreadsheets and turned the whole thing into another wrestling ratings debate. Instead, he saw somebody claiming WWE had scored a massive win when the published numbers showed the opposite and basically responded with, “Nice try.”

What do you make of Tony Khan using a “pretty good liar” GIF to shut down the bogus AEW and NXT ratings claim? Let us know what you think in the comments.
