Tony Khan wants AEW back in Australia. AEW has already held major Grand Slam events in Brisbane and Sydney, and Khan sounds very happy with how both shows turned out.
Speaking with Wide World of Sports, Khan said the fans in Australia have been incredible and made it clear he wants the company to return.
“I absolutely want to come back to Australia.”
Khan said AEW has built a strong audience in the country, and it helps that some of the company’s top stars are from Australia.
“We’ve had incredible events with the fans in both Sydney and Brisbane. I think we’ve built a great audience, our wrestlers are so popular and some of the top stars in AEW are actually from Australia.”
Khan also praised Australia as a wrestling country and said AEW’s connection there feels like something the company can keep building.
“Given what a great wrestling country it is and how many awesome stars we have in AEW from there, I think we’ve got something really special.”
AEW has already created big moments in Australia, and Khan’s comments make it sound like the company isn’t treating those shows as a one-time thing. With Australian stars on the roster and strong fan support, AEW could be heading back there again in the future.
