Tony Khan didn’t waste any time embracing AEW’s new corporate reality. On the same day Skydance officially completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, the AEW president made it clear he’s already loving the new setup.

Khan posted a video on social media Tuesday afternoon ahead of AEW Grand Slam France from the Adidas Arena in Paris. While running down the show, he stopped to address AEW’s future under the newly formed Skydance umbrella. Khan sounded downright thrilled about day one.

“It’s great being here in Paris today, my first day working for Skydance, and it’s great. I love working for Skydance, and we’re going to have a great future here.”

He then made it clear that AEW sees itself moving forward alongside both Paramount and Warner Bros.

“It’s our first day, hand in hand with our Paramount brothers and sisters here at Warner Bros. It’s going to be a great, great future for AEW, and it begins on Tuesday Night Dynamite, Grand Slam tonight.”

The comments came just hours after Skydance officially completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, putting Paramount and WBD under the same corporate roof. The combined company is operating under the Skydance name, while the Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery brands continue underneath it.

The timing couldn’t have been more fitting for AEW. Khan made the comments from Paris ahead of the October 6 Grand Slam France edition of Dynamite, which marked AEW’s first event in France and featured a stacked card from the Adidas Arena.

AEW’s television future has been one of the biggest business questions hanging over the company, but Khan certainly doesn’t sound worried. If anything, he’s acting like the Skydance era is a fresh start — and he’s already selling fans on what comes next.

Do you think AEW will benefit from being under the new Skydance umbrella, or could the media shakeup eventually create new problems? Let us know what you think in the comments.
