AEW is dedicating this Wednesday’s Dynamite to PAC. Tony Khan announced the tribute show while addressing fans at the September 28 ROH tapings in Jacksonville, where he also requested a moment of silence and a ten-bell salute for Benjamin Satterley.
Khan told the crowd that the September 30 broadcast from Pittsburgh would honor someone who had been part of AEW’s story from the beginning. He also stressed that everyone performing at the ROH tapings and Wednesday’s Dynamite was doing so voluntarily.
“I wanted to announce to all of you Wednesday night, Dynamite this week will be a tribute show to Pac…”
Before discussing Wednesday’s plans, Khan explained why he wanted to speak to the audience before the wrestling began. He remembered Satterley as someone whose character matched the talent fans watched inside the ring.
“Somebody who epitomized the very best of wrestling and the very best of humanity. One of the best people I’ve ever known.”
Khan asked for the ten-bell salute and a moment of silence, then reflected on the significance of being back in Jacksonville. He pointed to the nearby parking lot where AEW held its launch rally on January 8, 2019, and explained that his relationship with PAC had started before that day.
“From the very beginning when we talked about launching aew, he was somebody that I knew would be a big part of the company and somebody that outside of wrestling also became a big part of my life.”
For Khan, Pittsburgh also carries a connection to PAC’s AEW career. He recalled PAC facing Jon Moxley in the main event of the first Dynamite held in that city and said returning there for the tribute felt fitting. The announcement came as Khan acknowledged how suddenly the loss had hit the company. He told fans they would hear much more about Satterley from the people who knew him in the days ahead.
“You’ll hear a lot about what a wonderful person Ben was this week because frankly, I’ve never met a person who was more beloved by his peers and his friends.”
Khan’s memories extended beyond booking matches and running shows. He spoke about spending time with Satterley over dinner, watching football and traveling together, remembering the friendships he left behind alongside his wrestling accomplishments.
“And it was such a pleasure to spend time with Ben outside of wrestling as well. Whether it was just having dinner or watching a football match or traveling, Ben is a very first class person and he left behind a lovely wife and a lot of great friends and a legacy that will last forever.”
Khan also praised the determination that drove PAC’s career. He said Satterley could have succeeded in whatever field he chose, but had set his sights on becoming one of wrestling’s best.
“And he set his mind to being one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. And I believe he succeeded in that.”
Khan did not reveal a match lineup or specific tribute segments during these remarks. The announcement establishes that Wednesday’s Pittsburgh broadcast will be dedicated to PAC, following AEW’s announcement of his passing at 40.
Wednesday’s Dynamite now has a deeply personal purpose for Khan and the roster. As he told the Jacksonville crowd, the people choosing to perform will be stepping into the ring with Ben in mind.
