Tommaso Ciampa apparently never gave up on his dream of hitting Randy Orton with an RKO. More than two years after his hilarious string of failed attempts, Ciampa brought the whole thing back — except this time he ended up stalking the completely wrong bald guy.
On October 29, Ciampa uploaded a new video reviving his old RKO obsession while he was in St. Louis for AEW Dynamite. Since St. Louis is Randy Orton’s hometown, Ciampa decided he had 24 hours to track down The Viper and finally pull off the RKO he could never land back in 2024.
“Hey guys, I know you think I forgot, but I never forget. The Viper lives in St. Louis, and I have 24 hours to get him. I’m gonna RKO Randy Orton — watch.”
The video then jumped ahead 12 hours, with Ciampa claiming he had finally spotted Orton after searching all day. He crept up behind his target, went for his big “out of nowhere” moment and immediately crashed and burned.
“I have been looking all day, but guys, I found him — right there. We’re gonna get him in St. Louis. Hold it, are you ready? Out of nowhere — OW!”
There was just one pretty big problem — the bald wrestler Ciampa had been stalking wasn’t Randy Orton at all. It was Kyle Fletcher, who understandably had no clue what the hell Ciampa was doing.
“Ciampa? What are you doing, bro?”
Ciampa quickly realized he had screwed up and tried to get the hell out of there without explaining himself. He simply told Fletcher he had mistaken him for somebody else.
“I thought you were someone else. Never mind.”
That only left Fletcher even more confused about who Ciampa had been trying to attack in the first place. As Ciampa walked away, Fletcher had one obvious question, with a confused face, saying, “Who?”
Ciampa’s latest disaster is a callback to the running gag he started back in 2024, when he repeatedly tried to sneak up on Orton and hit him with his own finisher. Those attempts went horribly wrong in just about every way imaginable, with Ciampa crashing into tables, storage containers and even failing beside a pool. He eventually expanded the mission beyond Orton by trying the RKO on Kevin Owens, which didn’t exactly work out for him either. Ciampa finally managed to successfully hit the move on an unsuspecting talent at the WWE Performance Center, but his attempts to catch Orton himself continued ending in failure.
The bit eventually disappeared, but Ciampa clearly hadn’t forgotten about it. Two years later, he finally found himself in Orton’s hometown with another opportunity — only to mistake Kyle Fletcher for The Viper and add yet another spectacular failure to the collection.
