TNA Wrestling may be adding more gold to the Knockouts division.

Fightful Select reports that a new championship has been pitched within TNA, and it could be coming to television in the near future. Details are still tight, but the idea being discussed is some kind of midcard women’s championship.

That would be a pretty big move for TNA, especially with the Knockouts division already being one of the company’s strongest calling cards over the years. A secondary women’s title could give more talent something to chase and help build more stories outside the main Knockouts Championship picture.

As of now, there is no word on what the title would be called or what the belt would look like. An announcement could come soon if the plan is finalized, but things could still shift due to the recent creative changes in the company.

There is also another interesting piece to this. A women’s tournament of some kind was also planned for July, which could end up tying into the new championship if TNA decides to move forward with the idea.

TNA has been going through a lot of changes lately, and adding another championship to the women’s division would be one way to shake up the product fast. Now the question is whether this new title actually makes it to television, and who gets the chance to become the first champion.
