One of the biggest stipulations attached to TNA Lockdown 2026 may already have its answer behind the scenes.
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp has learned that Joe Alonzo is signed to TNA Wrestling ahead of his match against The Home Town Man at Lockdown on August 23. TNA announced Alonzo for a unique match in Chicago where his AAW Heavyweight Championship is on the line against The Home Town Man. The other side of the stipulation is that Alonzo would officially earn a TNA contract if he wins.
However, Alonzo’s deal with TNA was already completed at least by last week, meaning he appears to be under contract before the match even takes place.
Alonzo has made several appearances for TNA in recent weeks and has impressed officials during his time with the company. He has also established himself as a standout on the independent wrestling scene before getting this opportunity.
The match was originally announced by TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella during AAW Unbreakable, with Alonzo putting his championship at risk while chasing what was presented on television as a potential TNA deal.
Now fans heading into Lockdown know there is more going on behind the scenes. While the contract stipulation remains part of the match’s storyline, Alonzo’s future with TNA appears to have already been secured. It remains to be seen how TNA handles the finish and whether Alonzo officially “earns” his contract at Lockdown, but his signing makes the outcome of the match even more interesting heading into the show.
Do you think Joe Alonzo being signed to TNA gives away the result of his Lockdown match, or could TNA still throw fans a curveball? Let us know what you think in the comments.
