Watching WWE today isn’t as simple as turning on one channel anymore, and TKO president Mark Shapiro admits that reality could frustrate fans.
During the same Q&A session, Shapiro addressed concerns about WWE programming being spread across multiple platforms, including streaming services and traditional television networks. Some fans have complained about needing multiple subscriptions just to follow weekly shows and premium events. Shapiro acknowledged that this shift can create frustration, but said it reflects the current direction of the entertainment industry rather than something unique to WWE.
“You can make some enemies really quickly… I was just reading something today… if you want to watch the Yankees games this year, the full season through the playoffs, you'll have to watch them across 10 platforms at the cost of ,000 when you add up everything you have to buy to see them. That's just the way of the world today.”
He continued by explaining that spreading content across different platforms may drive some viewers away, but remains part of a larger strategy to expand reach and revenue opportunities.
“And you will chase away some fans. So that's not good… but that's just the way of the world today.”
Shapiro also pointed to the broader entertainment landscape, noting that viewers often subscribe to streaming services for one specific show or event, only to discover additional content once they join.
“You may buy Paramount Plus just to get the UFC, but you also might already have it because you're a fan of Landman or something… We really want to surround ourselves with a good neighborhood of content.”
As WWE programming continues expanding across networks and streaming services, the company appears committed to this multi-platform strategy — even if it creates added costs and inconvenience for viewers.
With more WWE content spread across different services than ever before, fans are left balancing convenience against access.
